Is there anyone who has teenagers? Packing for them is not easy. I then have a toddler and 2 elementary school kids too. This is a family affair and I am paying for this with my other half and my sister and her husband. Please help.

    Ahoy, Dorothy!

I have been sailing with my daughters since they were ages 4 and 7. Now that they are a tween and a teen, packing is slightly more difficult, but often easier since I make them responsible for their own packing. I give them a list of what I expect them to pack, and then if they have any extra room, they can add in their own items.

For a 7-Night sailing, their list includes:
    3 pairs of shorts/capris
    7 t-shirts
    8 pairs of underthings
    8 pairs of socks
    2 pairs of PJs
    2 swimsuits
    swimsuit cover-up
    flip flops
pirate outfit (if they choose to wear it)
    4 dresses/outfits for dinners
    2 formal/semi-formal dresses
2 pairs of nice shoes to go with ALL dresses packed
    1 long-sleeved sweater or jacket
    1 pair good walking shoes
toiletries...and I ALWAYS check to be sure everything is included

Once these things are packed, they are free to add in other items. Keep in mind that I DO use the list and ensure that they have packed these items! Usually my 15 year old daughter brings more shoes, and often an extra outfit or two. I will sometimes do laundry part-way through our cruise, just to keep the amount of dirty clothes to a minimum.

For the younger kids, my list is about the same, but since their clothes are so much smaller, I throw in extras. I let my girls pack their own carry-on bag as well, with the threat that they have to carry it for the entire time traveling.

I hope this helps with the planning of your cruise for your large family! Please come back and visit us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel again with more questions before you set sail.

    Happy Cruising, Tracy V.
