Hi, Blair! One of my coworkers used an Osprey backpack carrier to take her sons along on hikes, so I can see how they could be super useful to you while walking around in the Walt Disney World Resort theme parks! I looked over the
list of prohibited items and see that backpacks, with or without wheels, must be smaller than 24" long x 15" wide x 18" high (61cm x 38cm x 46cm). Be sure to double check the dimensions of yours before bringing it along on your magical vacation.
While the backpack may fit the size restrictions, I just want you to be aware that your son will need to come out of it while you are on attractions together, and it must go along on the attraction with you. There is not a designated place to store your belongings during each attraction, so guests are asked to place all belongings around their feet while enjoying their ride. I worry you may have an issue if your backpack does not collapse small enough for this. I can think of several times when I have wished for some pixie dust to shrink my backpack while on Seven Dwarfs Mine Train!
If you do decide that you need a Plan B while here,
single and double strollers can be rented at the front of each theme parks. There are also several great rental companies in the area; Kingdom Strollers is a Featured Disney Provider I have used. If you are staying at one of the Resort hotels, they will drop off your rental at Bell Services. When you are done, you just turn it back into Bell Services for it to be picked up later. Easy peasy!
Thank you for stopping by and please let us know if you have any other questions as you continue to plan your trip. Best of luck to you during the
Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend!
