Has anyone stayed at the Wilderness Lodge? If so how are the rooms and did you try the Horse back riding? It is our first time to Disney and we are staying at the lodge and I wanted to know how it is.

I have stayed at the Wilderness Lodge several times. It is a gorgeous deluxe hotel with very realistic themeing of the northern woods. The Wilderness Lodge also has two of my favorite restaurants on Disney property. The Whispering Canyon Cafe is a rip-roarin' good time with skillets full of BBQ meats and hobby horse races through the restaurant. Artist Point is a sophisticated gourmet restaurant featuring food and wines from the American Northwest. The signature dish is cedar plank salmon.  The pool at the Wilderness Lodge is lots of fun and for entertainment there is a hot geyser that periodically erupts on property.

My oldest daughter and I went on the horse trail ride about two years ago. (Note that the riding is NOT at the Wilderness Lodge. It is at the nearly Fort Wilderness campgrounds.) This is a Western-style guide-lead walk through the woods. I recall that it lasted about an hour. The horses were all VERY tame. No riding experience is necessary. In fact, my daughter, who was very into English style riding at the time, was a bit disappointed that she really didn't have to interact with or direct the horses all. They just followed the lead rider guide. The ride itself is very pleasant. It  meanders through paths in and around the campgrounds. Riders often see deer grazing along the way.  For pricing and more information, you should call 407-WDW-PLAY.

    Hope this helps.
