Has anyone stayed at port orleans FQ during mardi gras week?[usually around feb 17th]. Does it stay  family friendly?

    Hi Liz,

I stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter with two of my daughters during February of this year. There were some Mardi Gras activities noted in the hotel bulletin, but they were very simple, calm, family oriented. On example would be a mask-making art project. Guests were given green and purple beads at some activities.

The highlight of the day is usually a small parade given by cast members. Typically, they will decorate the golf-cart size service vehicles to resemble parade floats. In 2014, Princess Tiana paid a visit. It's really quite lovely and sweet. My teenage daughters thought it was a hoot.

Everything I've ever seen or heard about Mardi Gras at Port Orleans is very tasteful and G-rated. In my opinion, you don't have anything to worry about. You can check out video of the 2012 and 2104 parades on the independent fan website PortOrleans.org. Cut/paste this link: http://www.portorleans.org/mardigras.php

Good luck with your planning. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
