Has anyone had experience going to Disney world on a low protein diet (due to a medical condition)? Are special meal options available?

Hiya, Christina, and welcome to planDisney! I'm so glad you stopped by with your question. My husband and I are plant-based for health reasons, and I'm happy to report that Walt Disney World Resort is a magical and dietary-conscious place. The chefs understand that guests have specific needs and strive to ensure everyone has a delectable dining experience! So let's see what's available to help you have fantastic food on your next visit.

I always tell my server at Table Service restaurants about my dietary needs, and a chef once came to my table to discuss my niece's allergies. Being vocal and clear about your needs and concerns is the most efficient way to be sure you get the meal of your dreams. But you can also take some steps before your trip to be prepared for eating in the Theme Parks and other restaurants on property.

First, you can look at menus at any restaurants you're interested in on the website. Click View Menu and then sort by the meal. Remember that menu choices are subject to change, but I've found that I can get a good idea of a restaurant's offerings this way. And dishes that are plant-based are clearly labeled on most menus. One of my favorite plant-based meals is the Savory Impossible Hot Pot at Rose & Crown Dining Room at EPCOT.

Once you've booked dining for your visit, which you can do 60 days before arrival, you can reach out to the Special Diets team at Special.Diets@DisneyWorld.com when you're within a couple of weeks of your trip. This team will help you navigate your Walt Disney World dining experience.

Quick Service locations and food carts may have ingredient lists, so you can ask to see those. And did you know you can bring your own food and snacks to the Theme Parks? Just be sure to follow the park Property Rules

Christina, I love food, and Disney food is some of the most fun food out there. So I'm sending pixie dust and powdered sugar that your next trip is full of delicious meals at the Most Magical Place on Earth. Please stop by planDisney anytime!

    Magic awaits,
    Elaine
