Has anyone ever had to postpone a WDW trip because of a hurricane? I read Disney's hurricane policy, but has anyone dealt with this? I'm curious to know how complicated it is, especially where airlines are concerned. Thanks!

    Hi Samantha,

I have never cancelled a trip to Walt Disney World because of a hurricane. I have been at Walt Disney World during a hurricane and I will say they were great. Disney gave us a special room rate so we could stay in our room and be safe. They also provided us with bagged meals at a discount because our resort, the Boardwalk, had no restaurant to enjoy inside the resort.

As for airlines, it is up to the individual carrier to offer to move your flight or not. Some airlines choose to be proactive and move passengers ahead of the storm for free. Others will rebook once they know the storm is upon the area. The two are not necessarily in alignment with one another.

I would recommend travel insurance if you are that concerned about a hurricane. My friends all use it for the peace of mind it brings.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
