Hello, Kelly! I bet you were over the moon with excitement with all the
announcements that came out of the D23 Expo last weekend! My fellow Disney Parks Moms Panelists and I were all glued to our seats as we watched the live stream presentation.
One thing that surprised me is that
Epcot's brand new space-themed restaurant in the
Mission: SPACE pavilion will be ready to welcome Guests as early as Winter 2019! Although no details have been released as of yet about when Disney Dining will start taking reservations, I speculate that it will be sometime this fall, perhaps as soon as September. The best source for accurate, up-to-date information is the
Disney Parks Blog. Let's hope the stars align and you're able to secure a coveted reservation for your trip!
There are plenty of details we do know, including the inspiration behind its name, Space 220, which reflects the fact that the International Space Station is 220 miles away from Earth (or more importantly, Epcot). Guests will actually feel like they are on a space station by traveling to the restaurant's main dining room in a simulated elevator rocket ride, after which they will be greeted by panoramic views of Earth! And while we don't know what specific items will be offered on the menu, I've heard it will focus on internationally inspired cuisine.
I hope your trip is out of this world, Kelly! While you're in orbit, make sure to say hi to Pluto for me!
