Hi Anna s Thank you for taking the time to answer my question about my gastric bypass and about eating in wdw . If it is possible for you to give me advise about were you eat and the food you had prepared for you it would be very helpful. Thanks again

Hi, Susan!  Thank you for coming back to chat with me about your upcoming trip!

I made it a point following my surgery to not entirely skip any restaurant.  If my family wanted to eat somewhere, I would go and find something on the menu that I could tolerate.  Everyone who is gastrically altered is different, but the only place this isn't possible for me is when it comes to Chinese cuisine.  Even at home, when we order take away, I have to skip the Chinese or I get serious dumping syndrome.

I also don't tolerate pasta very well, but I can go to restaurants like Tutto Italia and order a pasta and seafood dish without the pasta.  If I am going to a counter service location, I'll order a burger or hot dog without the bun.  A chef at the Plaza Restaurant at the Magic Kingdom turned the club sandwich into a salad for me.  Just weeks after my surgery, the Turf Club Restaurant gave me a bowl of mashed potatoes, when I could only eat soft foods.

Check the appetizer menu at the restaurants you visit.  You might find that an appetizer portion of something is way more than enough.  At the Sci-Fi Dine In, I can usually order a BLT soup and be pretty satisfied.  At Jiko, a flatbread starter is easily two meals for me, or a dinner and a snack for someone else at the table.

Don't be concerned about asking for dishes to be altered based on what your tummy tolerates.  I've never been made to feel uncomfortable or awkward asking for meals adjusted, and some chefs will go way out of their way to be helpful!

I'm here if you need me!!
