Hi, Tara!  Welcome to the Garden State!

I went to Walt Disney World ten days after my gastric bypass surgery, so I've been there at every stage of recuperation.  How far post-op will you be when you travel?

The first thing you want to know is that you can indicate on every dining reservation that you have special dietary requirements.  In many cases, they will send the chef out to talk to you, and a meal can be created that will work with your gastrically altered self.  I've found that I can adapt some of the appetizers to work for a full meal, or you can enjoy a soup in place of an entree.  I also found that I could share some of my husband's meal and be satisfied.

Do you have the Magic Bullet?  It's quite compact and easy to pack, and you can find them at places like Target or WalMart - even Walgreen's.  I usually take mine with me and make a protein shake in the morning and one again in the evening when we get back.  You can put your protein in a ziploc bag, so you don't have to bring a big container.  If you can drink your protein shakes with water, you can get another one in during the day in the parks by putting a single serving of protein powder in a baggie, and mixing it into a bottle of water.  You can find fruit flavors that work better for this at places online, like VitaLady.

Keep a bottle of water handy at all times.  Depending how far post-op you are, you may only be able to take small sips at a time, but you'll want to be drinking constantly.

I'm here if you need me!

    Have a great trip!
