We will be at Animal Kingdom on July 5 and have reservations for Spirit of Aloha for the late show. We are staying at Pop. In your opinion, would it be best to drive or use Disney transportation. How much time should be allowed either way?

If you have a car, I would use it to get from the Pop Century resort to the Polynesian for the Spirit of Aloha luau. The rule of thumb is that in most cases it is easier to go from resort to resort using your own transportation (car or cab) rather than than the Disney transportation. This does not always hold true, but your case is a perfect example of where it does. By taking your own car you will skip the late-night wait for a bus on the way back to the Pop when you're tired from a long day of park touring.

Should you decide that you'd like to use Disney Transportation, you should get on a bus from the Pop to the Magic Kingdom and then transfer to the resort monorail line for the quick trip to the Polynesian. On the way back, there are two possibilities. First, you could take the monorail to the Magic Kingdom and get the bus there, or you could walk to the Transportation and Ticket Center (adjacent to the Polynesian) and get transportation from there.

In either case I would leave the Pop at least an hour before show time. You really don't want to be late for the dinner shows. The queue area for the luau is pleasant with yummy fruity drinks for sale.

I hope you have a great time at the luau. And remember, with the hula, it's all in the hips ;-)
