We are going to Animal kingdom first week of March, I check and it says is winter still in Orlando but are there any chances we will be able to see the butterflies during these time of year?

Welcome to planDisney, Karen! How wonderful to know that you will soon be enjoying a magical visit to the Walt Disney World Resort and some warmer weather! Thanks for stopping in to see us!

Florida winter is unlike any other winter across our country. As I’m typing my response to you, it is about 85 degrees in sunny South Florida, just a few hours south of Orlando. You can definitely expect to see some butterflies during your upcoming visit. My oldest daughter loves to point them out when we visit “The Most Magical Place on Earth” this time of year!

You can expect to see giant swallowtail butterflies, tiger and zebra swallowtail butterflies, monarch butterflies and many other species! There really are so many out and about, especially during the month of March. I would say Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park is a great place to spot these beauties among the bushes and trees.

Karen, as you prepare for your upcoming visit, take a look at some of the planDisney team’s packing tips. It’s always a good idea to pack your sunscreen and a poncho!

For a look at the great activities and experiences you can expect to find at Walt Disney World Resort theme parks during your visit, check out the Disney Parks Blog. It’s a great place to keep track of all the happenings at the resort.

I hope this information is helpful to you. Please feel free to come back to see us if you have any more planning questions. Helping you with all the details of your next magical vacation is our pleasure!
