Hi Lisa!
YUM! You've just hit on one of my favorite treats for the holidays at Disney World!
I love visiting the Gingerbread Houses! In the past there has been a huge gingerbread house at the American Pavillion in Epcot but it isn't quite as spectacular as the one at the Grand Floridan (in my opinion anyways!). Both houses do feature sales of gingerbread sheets like shingles- both regular and chocolate dipped. The Grand Floridian house also features sales of gingerbread houses as well.
I never miss an opportunity to visit the house at the Grand Floridian and I definitely think its worth a special trip to see it. Be sure to examine it closely and see how many "Hidden Mickeys" you can find hidden among its structure. If you need a clue as to where to find them, look closely at the shingles, windows and the details of the structure - I'm sure there will be a few hidden there this year as well!
Last year, the Grand Floridian's
Gingerbread House was open from 10 am to 10 pm daily (hours for 2010 have not yet been announced). Of course, if you're running late (or early!), you can stop by and take a look at the house up close - you might just save some calories that way!
And, PS, last year, the Contemporary featured a
Gingerbread Tree that was quite fun to see too! Gingerbread sales there included gingerbread boys and girls modeled after dolls by the famous artist Mary Blair (who designed the Contemporary's mural and parts of the Its a Small World attraction).
