Hi Amanda, My son & I have reservations at 'Ohana for dinner for our upcoming Dec trip. Just wondering what you could tell me about it. I have never eaten there. Looked at the menu and it looks yummy. What is the atmosphere like? Thanks again! :)

Hi Amy! You're going to love 'Ohana! It's one of my family's must-do restaurants for dinner on our Disney vacations! The restaurant has a fun, loud and family-friendly atmosphere. The meal is served family-style, and you'll be amazed as your server (also know as your "cousin" because 'Ohana means family) brings more and more food to your table. The meal starts with pineapple-coconut bread and salad with a honey-lime dressing, quickly followed by chicken wings and pork dumplings. Noodles and vegetables accompany the main course, which is chicken, beef, pork, and shrimp that are brought to your table on long skewers. Just tell your server how many pieces you want of each meat and they'll put them on your plate. (If the meat is not cooked to your liking, just tell the server and they'll be happy to bring you some that is cooked more or less well-done. We've found the level of cooking can vary depending on who's doing the grilling that night.) You'll have three sauces to dip your meats in -- the peanut is our favorite! The cousins will keep filling your plates, but you definitely need to save room for dessert -- the banana bread pudding with caramel sauce and ice cream is scrumptious!

While you're dining at 'Ohana, an entertainer sings, acknowledges guests celebrating special occasions, and organizes activities for the children, such as dance lessons, coconut races and limbo contests. My daughter loves participating in those activities because she receives a lei -- she has a collection of them now! If you're lucky, you'll receive a table by the windows, which offer a fantastic Magic Kingdom view.

Hope you have a magical time this December, Amy! Come visit me again at the Moms Panel if you have more questions! You know I'm always happy to hear from you!
