Welcome to planDisney, Cathy!
Lightning Lane options have become one of the best tools for making the most of a day at the Disneyland Resort, and with the introduction of the
Lightning Lane Premier Pass, Guests now have even more flexibility when planning their time. I’m happy to share that if you’ve already purchased
Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you can absolutely use it alongside the Premier Pass. Let’s take a look at how these two options complement one another so you can feel confident heading into your visit.
Lightning Lane Multi Pass allows you to select return times for eligible attractions throughout
Disneyland Park and
Disney California Adventure Park. Once you choose a return window in the
Disneyland app, you’ll arrive during that timeframe to enter the Lightning Lane instead of the standby queue. Multi Pass can be added when purchasing theme park tickets, bought separately before your visit, or purchased directly in the app on the day you arrive.
The Lightning Lane Premier Pass works a little differently. Rather than selecting return times, this pass provides each Guest with one-time Lightning Lane access to every participating attraction in a single theme park for that day. This includes attractions normally offered through Multi Pass as well as those typically designated as Single Pass selections. With Premier Pass, there’s no advance planning required (you simply tap in when you’re ready), and the app automatically tracks which attractions you’ve already redeemed.
When using both passes together, the key difference is how access is managed. Premier Pass access is available immediately for eligible attractions until each one is redeemed once, while Multi Pass still requires you to make return time selections in the app. It’s also important to note that each attraction can only be used once per pass (meaning you could experience an attraction once with Premier Pass and once with Multi Pass, if applicable).
No matter which combination you choose, Cathy, here’s my favorite Q-Tip: start your day early. Arriving close to park opening gives you a head start on making selections and enjoying attractions with shorter wait times. It’s a great opportunity to squeeze in a peaceful spin through
Radiator Springs Racers or kick off your morning with
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad before the park really comes to life.
I hope this helps you feel prepared to navigate Lightning Lane options during your upcoming Disneyland visit. If more questions pop up as you plan, please don’t hesitate to stop by planDisney again. We’re always delighted to help you make the most of every magical moment.
Wishing you a day filled with smooth Lightning Lane taps and unforgettable adventures!
