Hi, Melanie! My family has enjoyed every stay at
Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside. My daughters especially love that most rooms in the Alligator Bayou section do have a Murphy-style bed in addition to two queen-size beds, which means they can each have a bed of their own. That extra sleeping space sure does make for happy princesses!
This resort is somewhat large, but the walk from the farthest room to the main building is completely manageable. If you keep your Preferred room, you should be placed in one of the Alligator Bayou buildings adjacent to the main building and have a very short walk to transportation, the Ol' Man Island main pool, and Riverside Mill Food Court. If you swap to Standard View, these rooms are found in both the Alligator Bayou and Magnolia Bend sections. The rooms in either of these sections are between a five and ten minute walk to the main building. There are walking paths that run between all of the buildings and there are paths that cut across the river to the pool. The pool area paths can save you several minutes of walking if you are in the buildings beyond the pool.
This resort does have three bus stops around the resort, in addition to another stop at the main building. If you are in the outlying buildings, you can always hop aboard any bus headed to a theme park, as those will stop at the main building before venturing off. You can make a room request when completing
Online Check-In to help you be placed in an area that your family prefers. Please understand that room requests are exactly that - just a request and cannot be guaranteed.
I hope this helps you while planning your visit, Melanie. Please stop by again if you have any other questions. Have a magical day!
Brandy
