Aloha Catherine, and welcome back to planDisney! December is one of my favorite times to visit
Aulani. I love seeing all of the holiday decorations in the lobby, and in past years, there have also been carolers singing seasonal songs throughout the resort. They always get me in the holiday spirit! So let’s make sure you’re all set for your trip.
First, let's talk about adding your room location request. If you booked your stay with
Disney Vacation Club points, you can add a room request to your reservation through
Member Services (by chat, email, or phone). If not, you can make your request by calling Aulani at 866-443-4763. While requests aren't guaranteed, Cast Members will try their best to grant your wish!
Now onto the luau. In my experience, the
KA WA’A luau opens their booking for an entire month about four to six months in advance. You should be able to reserve the luau for your vacation because booking is currently open on the website through December 31, 2025. My family liked the Preferred Seating because we were able to enter the luau area earlier, which gave us more time to enjoy the pre-show activities, like making flower bracelets, ‘ukulele playing, and taro pounding. Preferred Seating tables are also a little closer to the stage, but there’s really not a bad seat in the house! One of the things I love about this particular luau is how small and intimate it is... and the convenience of having it right at the resort!
There are two other important booking windows to keep in mind as you’re planning for your trip. The first is at the 45-day mark when you can book reservations for
Aunty’s Beach House and activities through the
Pau Hana Room. This booking window has shifted in the past, so I always suggest double-checking the website a few days before you’re eligible to make reservations just in case anything has changed. ‘Ohana Ho’okani Pila ‘ukulele lessons and Family Fun Animation fill up quickly, so be sure to reserve those as soon as you can!
The second one is at the 30-day mark when you can
make dining reservations for
Makahiki and
‘AMA’AMA. If you’re looking for a special dining experience, ‘AMA’AMA has delicious locally sourced dishes with tables that overlook the ocean. I recommend making a reservation about an hour before sunset for an extra magical view.
I hope you have an amazing stay at Aulani this December! And if you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to visit us again at planDisney.
