Hello there, Matthew!
Welcome to planDisney! As a fellow wielder of the elegant weapon from a more civilized age, and as someone preparing to embark on an unforgettable journey to
Star Wars Nite, I’m absolutely thrilled to help you with your question.
The answer you seek is a resounding yes! As long as you follow the
Property Rules and the Prohibited Items List, you are welcome to bring both your lightsaber hilt and blade back into Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. One of my most cherished memories is when my wife and I returned to Batuu with the lightsabers we crafted in
Savi’s Workshop, taking photos with our custom blades as we explored Black Spire Outpost under the twin suns, or, you know, the California sky. I highly recommend adding that to your personal holocron of must-do experiences!
Now, as you may already know, Matthew, Star Wars Nite is a Disneyland After Dark event that unites Force-users, scoundrels, droids, and rebels from every corner of the galaxy. Each evening is packed with galactic adventures, including a costume cavalcade where Guests can show off their finest cosmic couture while parading down Main Street, en route to a special photo opportunity with Mickey and Minnie, dressed in their own Star Wars-inspired best, in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle.
The event also boasts exclusive merchandise and out-of-this-galaxy treats that would make even a Wookiee pause mid-roar. But the true treasures of the night are the legendary character encounters and immersive photo backdrops. Last year, Guests could snap a holo with Han Solo frozen in carbonite, while over in Galaxy’s Edge, C-3PO, Hera Syndulla, and Chopper from Star Wars Rebels were seen making the rounds. Perhaps the rarest of all was the chance to meet Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and R2-D2 together, a sight to make any Rebel’s heart soar higher than an X-wing in attack formation. And if you feel the call to Naboo, keep an eye out for Queen Amidala herself. You may even catch a glimpse of her Jedi protector, whose opinions on sand remain… well-documented. These encounters are rarer than finding a functional hyperdrive on the Millennium Falcon, so don’t miss your chance!
Since you’re the proud owner of a lightsaber, there are two events at Star Wars Nite that I strongly recommend adding to your mission briefing.
First, you won’t want to miss a lightsaber combat demonstration led by an elite instructor, well-versed in the ways of Jedi and Sith. Whether you follow the path of the light side or are tempted by the dark side, these skills may come in handy should you encounter any… Imperial entanglements.
Second, and perhaps the most awe-inspiring moment of the night, is the Gathering of the Resistance in Galaxy’s Edge. Hosted by Rey, this special moment brings together allies from across the galaxy to gather in front of the Millennium Falcon. Together, you’ll ignite your lightsabers as one: a beacon of hope glowing against the night sky. Having stood shoulder to shoulder with fellow Force-users at this event, I can promise you: there’s nothing quite like the brilliance of dozens of lightsabers illuminating the darkness, a reminder that hope is never lost.
I hope this transmission not only answers your question, Matthew, but also fuels your excitement for Star Wars Nite. Should you have any additional questions, about the event, Batuu, or perhaps where to find the best blue milk, feel free to reach out to me or any of my fellow planDisney panelists.
May the Force be with you!
David
