Hi, Amanda! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thanks for bringing this picture-perfect question to us! I have noticed a few GoPro cameras in the Walt Disney World Resort theme parks several times and have thought what a great idea it was to help guests document even those small magical moments during their trips. I remember the video cameras from my childhood, those massive ones that my dad was constantly lugging around on his shoulder. My, how times have changed and made it easier for us to film our lives!
Looking over the
Walt Disney World Resort Property Rules, I spy restrictions on selfie sticks or hand-held extension poles for cameras, and the use of tripods or monopods to hold devices. As long as you have the GoPro strapped to your body, then you should be fine in most instances. However, Cast Members may ask you to remove it for some attractions. Also note that some attractions do state that no photography is allowed, so keep an eye out for those. In my personal experience with taking pictures during a ride, you may not have a great view unless you sit towards the front of the ride vehicle. You are always welcome to ask the Cast Member if you may sit on the front row, such as at Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, but please understand that this may extend your wait a bit.
Walt Disney World Resort does reserve the right to change the park rules at any time, so please check the rules page I linked above before your arrival. Also, to help you capture even more pixie-dusted moments, be sure to look into
Memory Maker, which will include all Disney PhotoPass pictures taken during your trip and can even include on-ride video and photos! I hope this information helps you plan a magical day and please let us know if you have any other questions!
