Ahoy there, we’re so glad you found us at planDisney!
Disney Cruise Line, and Disney in general, are always as accommodating as they can be for guests. They’ve created a helpful page of
Services for Guests with Disabilities, and that includes s
pecial dietary requests. While they will do everything that they can, not all requests can be accommodated for various reasons. Crew members generally cannot reheat food for guests on board, so bringing on perishable, frozen items is not accepted. I recommend putting in a special request at least five (5) weeks before your sailing to ensure it is received and you can connect with Disney well before your trip.
Once aboard the ship, your grandson can take part in as much or as little as you would all prefer based on his comfort level and abilities at
Disney’s Oceaneer’s Lab. You’ll want to
pre-register him sooner rather than later, although you can also register on embarkation day. Once aboard, you can take a tour of the facilities and chat with the counselors to determine if this is the best experience for your grandson. While it is open to children with special needs, if your grandson prefers to stay with you, they do offer
Open House hours where guests of all ages on board can participate in activities together as a family! This may be a great option if he is not interested or able to be at the Lab on his own. Make sure you download the
Navigator app to keep an eye on the activities and club hours!
I sure hope this information is helpful, and that you can get any accommodations necessary for your grandson so you both can rest easy on this upcoming sailing! If you have any other questions before departure, feel free to
send us another message!
Enjoy the magic at sea!
