    Hi, Do they still allow you to try to pull the sword out of the stone at Fantsyland in Magic Kingdom? I remember trying that as a kid and I would really like to have my nephew try when we go.

    Hi Elizabeth,

    While the sword itself is still there near the carousel, the official sword ceremony at the Magic Kingdom was discontinued several years ago.

    Since then, sword removal has been pretty much random. I've never actually seen anyone be able to do it - and my own children have tried, a lot. But I have done some research on this topic and suffice it to say that some folks do have the power to remove the sword.

    I won't reveal any spoilers here except to say that there's no secret something that you should be doing. There's no button to push or magic words or special twisting maneuver that will get the job done. Really you just have to be lucky.

    My only advice is to have your nephew give it a go and hope he has the magic touch.
