Going to Alaska in May. We already per-selected some excursions, some are short and we were wondering if there is sightseeing near the port that we can do after we return from our excursions? Back to back excursions are out of our budget... Thanks!

    Ahoy Laura!
Breathtaking scenery, incredible wildlife, and many magical experiences await you and your family on your Alaskan sailing this May!  Venturing ashore to participate in some fabulous excursions and explore the amazing ports of call will make your vacation even more memorable for your crew!
I'm happy to report that there will be plenty to see and do around the Alaskan ports.  Skagway, Juneau, and Ketchikan are all very walker friendly ports and taxis and shuttles are available if you want to head out beyond the actual port area.  In Skagway, everything you will want to see is within a half mile of the ship.  In Juneau, the Mount Roberts Tramway is a popular and inexpensive way to get around the quaint area.  There is also the Macaulay Salmon Hatchery about three miles away and the Last Chance Mining Museum about a mile away that you can get to easily by a shuttle.  Ketchikan is very small and the shuttle they offer is actually free.  Each port will have an Information Center for visitors close by the ship so I suggest heading there first after your Port Adventure is over to pick up a map and to ask any questions.
Thanks for visiting the Moms Panel, Laura!  If you have any other planning questions, please let me know.
    Have a "Wonder"ful day!
