On the Alaska Disney cruises are their programs to listen to naturalists? Are these run by park rangers? Can kids earn their Junior Ranger Badges during the cruise?

    Ahoy there, Brooke,

Thanks for stopping by planDisney with another question! It sounds like you and your fellow explorers are ready for some Alaskan adventures. I also have my compass set for an Alaskan Disney Cruise Line vacation, so I'm happy to assist you with your question.

With so many fascinating things to learn about Alaska, I'm pleased to tell you there are presentations by naturalists while onboard. These talks are offered in the Walt Disney Theatre during the day (of course, this is subject to change but they are typically available during Alaskan itineraries). Once onboard, you can check your Disney Cruise Line Navigator app for specific times. The presentations are usually offered by local naturalists who provide information about the scenery and wildlife that you will encounter (hopefully not too up-close!). In addition to the presentations, naturalists often share information over the intercom system as the ship is traveling through the majestic waters.

I did some checking with our friends at Disney Cruise Line about the Junior Ranger Badges. While some Disney Cruise Line itineraries offer Port Adventures featuring Junior Ranger Badge opportunities (such as this Port Adventure in Hilo, Hawaii), currently these are not offered on Alaskan cruises. I recommend that you continue to check the Port Adventure offerings available on your cruise in case additional opportunities are offered. Also, if your kids participate in Disney's Oceaneer Lab while onboard, there will be other wonderful engaging and educational offerings available.

As the ship sails, I hope you and your family will enjoy taking in the gorgeous scenery from the ship's pool deck. There are complimentary comfy blankets available on the pool deck and hot cocoa at the beverage stations near Cabanas on Deck 9.  While I'm anticipating the natural scenery, I also can't wait to meet Mickey and Minnie in their cozy Alaskan attire! Be sure to check your Navigator app for the time and location of these special Character Greetings

Brooke, I hope this information helps as you dream about your sailing aboard the Disney Wonder in such a wonder-filled part of the big blue world! Please let us know if you have other questions.

Wishing you many magical memories to come,
    Shannon
