We are going on the Alaska cruise with our 8 and 11 year old girls. Debating between a room with a veranda for $10k and room with window for $6k. Is the veranda worth it? Any guidance as to which side of boat, deck, etc. would be appreciated.

    Ahoy Giselle!
Welcome to the Moms Panel!  I was fortunate enough to sail this past summer on one of the Alaskan voyages and loved having a verandah!  I could not get enough of the phenomenal views that were just steps away during the entire sailing!  I kept my camera out on the coffee table at all times so I could easily grab it because I took so many pictures of the amazing scenery and wildlife from the verandah.  If you want to enjoy the views at all times and will spend time on your verandah then the extra cost is WORTH it!  If you think you will be spending a lot of time out and about, Deck Four is a great spot to take in the sights as well as up in Outlook Cafe on Deck 10.
My stateroom was on the port side of the ship on Deck Seven in the aft of the ship.  I enjoyed this location because we had a great view of all the port cities when we docked and were very close to Beach Blanket Buffet and the 24 hour drink station.  When you are selecting your stateroom, I'd suggest Deck 6 or 7 for your crew because you won't be far from the kids' spaces.  If you pick the Starboard side, you will also have amazing sights to see because it really is 360 degrees of beauty!
I hope I've helped some, Giselle! No matter what you choose, you are definitely in for a vacation of a lifetime!  Please let me know if you have any other Alaska cruise questions!  It is one my favorite topics to share about with future cruise Guests!
Have a magical day and good luck with your planning!
