The AKL pool will be closed when we're there but I hear we can use the one at Kidani Village. Is it possible to walk, or do we have to take the bus? Are there changing areas, or can we wear our swim coverups on the bus between hotels?

    Hi Heather,

The Kidani Village pool is very nice and I had to drag my boys out of the nearby splash area.

The Animal Kingdom Lodge and the newer Kidani Village are certainly within walking distance of each other. They share a rather large parking lot and the two resort areas are connected by a sidewalk and a guest walking path. I stayed at Kidani Village this past September and made the walk back and forth a number of times within just a few minutes. The only problem is where your room is in the main Lodge and how tired the kids get. I was able to walk the path easily but if you are at the far end of the main Lodge or the kids are hot and tired, the walk will seem twenty times longer. No worries though, while there is not an internal bus that runs specifically from one resort to the other, you can use the Disney park buses. The buses stop at both resorts before heading to the park, but be sure to ask at the front desk, as some of the buses routes are the Lodge then Kidani and some do the opposite. Make sure you know where the bus is headed before boarding.

As for coverups, you are welcome to wear them over your suits and you will most likely notice a number of guests doing the same thing as they head to Disney's waterparks too. You must also wear sandals, flip flops or swim shoes on the bus at all times. There are bathrooms adjacent to the Kidani pool if you prefer to change there.

Don't forget plenty of sunscreen and a hat. The Florida sun can be brutal. Happy splashing!
