Ahoy! We are taking our first cruise in April. We are stopping at the Bahamas. Are you able to walk to the beach from the port of call? Cab you get back on the ship early? Thank you!

Ahoy!  Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Denise!

I am over the moon excited for you to take your first Disney Cruise this April!  Our next high seas adventure is coming up in May, and every time we step onboard it is as magical as the first time.  You are in for some great fun and relaxation as you set sail with Captain Mickey in the spring.

There are two great ports of call in the Bahamas; Nassau and Disney Cruise Line's private island, Castaway Cay.  Castaway Cay is my "home away from home that they won't let me stay overnight at" and truly one of my favorite places to visit on the planet.  The island is quiet and well thought out for Guests of all ages to enjoy.  At Castaway Cay, you can step right off the ship onto the island and walk to the beach.  In Nassau, Junkanoo Beach is a 30-60 minute walk from the cruise port depending on your walking pace.  You do need to walk through neighborhoods with vendors so it's important to know you will likely be approached during your walk.

If you are interested in visiting a beach in Nassau, I would recommend a Port Adventure offered by Disney Cruise Line.  Blue Lagoon Island Beach Day is a terrific option to see this stunning Bahamian beach.  It is reasonably priced and includes transportation and lunch!  There is also a half day option if you'd like to come back to the ship early to enjoy quiet time onboard while in port.

When sailing with Disney Cruise Line, you are welcome to come and go from the ship as you'd like while in port.  Just be aware of the all aboard times provided in your Personal Navigator newsletter you receive in your stateroom each evening so you know when you need to be back onboard to travel to the next port.

Have fun making magical memories!  Bon voyage!  Angie
