Ahoy!!! We are taking our first ever cruise, and of course it had to be disney!!!! Question is: if we like it (and why wouldn't we) and want to book another, can we book on board for a discounted price? How about a second room? Thank you for your time!!

    Welcome Aboard, Sharon!

How exciting that you are embarking on your very first Disney Cruise Line vacation! Of course you will fall in love with the Disney ships and will absolutely want to book your next cruise while you are onboard.

When you visit the future cruise desk on the ship, you will be happy to know that on most future cruises, you will save 10%, plus Disney Cruise Line will give you a stateroom credit on that next cruise. You will also pay a reduced deposit for a future sailing of seven nights or more. In addition to that, you can book up to two staterooms per address per room when booking onboard. This is nice if you plan to include extended family on your next voyage (or spread your family out a bit like we do).

Something new that Disney Cruise Line has introduced is the opportunity to book a "placeholder" cruise. This means you can book a future cruise without choosing a specific sailing date! You will need to cruise within 24 months of booking the placeholder, but if you do not choose a date, at the 24 month mark, you will receive your $200 deposit back. Cruisers also have the option to cancel this placeholder cruise at any time for a full refund of your deposit.. This is a recent change, and will hopefully clear up some of the traffic to the future cruise bookings desk onboard the Disney Cruise Line fleet.

We cruised our first Disney Cruise Line ship in 2010. I am embarking on my 13th DCL cruise this summer. Of course I ALWAYS book a future cruise while onboard! I will now book a placeholder cruise, since in the past I have usually had to move those onboard bookings anyway.

I'm so glad you navigated your way to the Disney Parks Moms Panel to ask your question! Please ask more as your "Bon Voyage" gets closer!

    Happy Cruising, Tracy V.

Walt Disney World was my very first vacation, when I was just 3 months old, and I recently completed my 73rd trip to a Disney location! I have been fortune enough to parasail high above the Disney Fantasy, attend opening day of Batuu, snorkel in the lagoon at Disney's Aulani, and SO MUCH MORE! I can't wait to help you plan your Disney vacation!
