Ahoy there, Monserrat Guadalupe! Welcome aboard planDisney!
I
sea you’re looking forward to earning your medal for the Castaway Cay 5K!
The great news is that there's no pre-registration required, and it's completely at your own pace. I am not a huge morning person, so the ability to run or walk the 5k at anytime is great for me, however, I do have one tip when it comes to choosing your ready, set, go time. Castaway Cay in August can be quite warm. The warmer and more humid it gets, the longer that 5K can seem! You may want to start your adventure as early as possible to take advantage of slightly cooler temperatures and, hopefully, a refreshing island breeze. It can make for much smoother sailing along the course!
When you're ready, head over to the starting point near the
bike rental stand. There's no need to check in before you begin since it's completely on the honor system, but Cast Members are always happy to give you a quick overview of the course if you'd like.
One of the most important things to remember is that the route consists of two laps. When you find yourself passing familiar sights again, don't worry, you haven't drifted off course! You're just cruising through the second half of the magic. Once you cross the finish line, head back to the bike rental stand to pick up your 5K medal. It makes a great souvenir and a fun victory moment before settling in for some beach time.
Sometimes not all members of our crew want to tackle the 5K, and that's okay! A few of us usually head off to claim our beach spots and wait with cheers and ice cream for the runners and walkers. If you ask me, ice cream is the best trophy of all!
Monserrat Guadalupe, your magical sailing is just over the horizon! I hope you have the most wonderful time and make memories to last a lifetime. Be sure to check out the special photo opportunities scattered around the
island and keep an eye on the daily schedule for fun activities happening throughout the day. While I love a relaxing beach day and a swim in the beautiful water, there are plenty of family-friendly adventures to enjoy as well. And don't forget to watch for rays along the shore! On our last visit, a friendly one hung around for most of the day and became quite the attraction.
Sail back by if we can help with any other tips or planning advice! We'd love to
sea you again!
