At what age does a child need a ticket? Are there child care services available for 1 year olds?

Hey there, pal! Welcome to planDisney! Thanks for sending in your question.

Some of my most treasured Walt Disney World memories were made when my own Mouseketeers were toddlers. It wasn’t always smooth sailing, but I totally understand the joy (and challenges!) of bringing little ones to the parks. I remember people telling me, “But they’re too young to remember,” and while that may be true, I remember, and those sweet moments were absolutely worth it. There’s something so special about watching a tiny face light up during “it’s a small world” or seeing your baby meet Mickey for the first time!

To answer your question: Children under the age of 3 are considered “Guests of Mickey” and do not need a theme park ticket. Once they turn 3, they’ll need a valid ticket to enter the parks.

While Walt Disney World doesn’t offer traditional drop-off childcare services for little ones, there is a wonderful option called Kid’s Nite Out. This is a highly reputable in-room babysitting service available in the Orlando area, and they’ll send a caregiver right to your Disney Resort hotel room. They care for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years old and will keep your little one engaged with crafts, games, and quiet activities. I used this service myself when my kids were small, and the caregivers were fantastic. They even offer a “Parent’s Helper” service if you want an extra pair of hands while you explore the parks with your toddler. Just do a quick internet search for their contact information.

Each theme park also has a Baby Care Center, which is a lifesaver when you need a quiet spot to feed, nurse, change, or just regroup with your baby. These centers are clean, cool, and calm; a perfect little break from the hustle and bustle.

A few other mom-to-mom tips: try to stick to your usual nap schedule if you can. Staying at a Disney Resort hotel makes it much easier to hop back for a midday rest. You can also request a crib or Pack ’n Play when making your resort reservation; just be sure to request it early, since quantities are limited. And if you’re flying in, there are baby gear rental companies in the area that will deliver strollers, car seats, high chairs, and even toys right to your resort. It’s such a convenient option!

Oh, and don’t forget to capture that magical photo of your little one with Mickey. You’ll cherish it forever, even if your toddler doesn’t quite remember it yet.

I hope this helps make your vacation a little easier and a whole lot more magical! If you have any more questions, I’m always happy to help.

Sending you pixie dust and toddler snacks,

    Eean
