Welcome back to planDisney, Caroline! It’s great that you’re planning ahead for your October visit. With three park days on the horizon, thinking through how you want to use
Lightning Lane Multi Pass is a smart way to set yourself up for a smooth and flexible experience.
Lightning Lane Multi Pass can be purchased in advance for the full length of a multi-day ticket, but if you’d prefer to use it for just one day, you can absolutely do that by purchasing it on the day you plan to use it. This is a great option for Guests who want a mix of relaxed park days and one more attraction-focused day during their visit.
To purchase for a single day, simply open the
Disneyland app after you and your party have entered your starting park. From there, tap the option to purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass and follow the prompts. Once your purchase is complete, you can immediately begin selecting Lightning Lane return times for eligible attractions. My wife and I use this approach often, and it’s a great way to build flexibility into a multi-day trip.
Here’s a Lightning Lane Q-Tip for when you arrive: with a little strategy, you can stack return times throughout the day. For example, if you book
Matterhorn Bobsleds early in the morning and receive a return window for later in the day, you don’t have to wait until you ride it to make your next selection. You can book another Lightning Lane either after you redeem your first one or two hours after making the initial selection (whichever comes first). That means you could line up something like
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway while still holding your Matterhorn return time. I like to set a quick reminder on my phone so I don’t miss that two-hour window.
It’s also helpful to prioritize popular attractions early, as return times for
Space Mountain,
Indiana Jones Adventure, and
Haunted Mansion tend to fill quickly. My family likes to arrive about 30 minutes before rope drop, enjoy a few attractions with shorter standby waits, and then let Lightning Lane carry us smoothly through the afternoon.
Caroline, I hope this helps you feel confident choosing the best day to add Lightning Lane Multi Pass and making the most of your Disneyland visit. If any other questions come up as your trip gets closer, we’d love to welcome you back to planDisney.
Enjoy a magical and memory-filled visit!
