Welcome back to planDisney, Shannan! You're going to be amazed by all that has changed at Walt Disney World Resort since 2012! I cannot wait for you to experience the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary Celebration. Cinderella Castle has had an EARidescent makeover, and she looks stunning!
You are speaking my love language, Shannan! I'd be happy to give you some food for thought before your trip this summer. When it comes to Magic Kingdom Park's counter service dining, I have two recommendations. When I'm craving something healthy, I head over to
Columbia Harbour House, where they have a (not so hidden secret) upstairs dining area that looks straight out of a seaside New England village. I like to order the Grilled Salmon; it has a lightly grilled lemon butter flavor, and it is nice and flaky. If your crew is in the mood for Tex-Mex cuisine, go to
Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe to "Rustle up some grub." I'm mourning the demise of the toppings bar, but the beloved Fajita Platter still has my heart!
When making table service reservations, don't be afraid to split your party into two groups- I would do 3 and 4. You'll be able to select a party of 7 on your My Disney Experience account, but your options will be very limited, even at 60 days before your arrival. I advise you to have another member of your Family & Friends list help you do this. I explained the process in more detail
in an answer I recently wrote. When you arrive at the restaurant, mention that you'd like to be seated together, if possible; it also helps if you tell them you're willing to wait a little longer.
Now, let's talk snacks! At Magic Kingdom, a Dole Whip is always a "must-do!" However, if you're looking for something a little more unique, try the Fresh Fruit Waffle Sandwich, which comes with a chocolate hazelnut spread from
Sleepy Hollow Refreshments.
In Pandora – The World of Avatar, the newest part of Animal Kingdom Theme Park, visit the
Pongu Pongu drink stand. The frosty non-alcoholic Night Blossom has layers of Apple and Desert Pear Limeade topped with Passion Fruit Boba Balls, and it goes down easily in the Florida heat!
When in EPCOT, let your nose lead you to
Karamell-Kuche (German for "Caramel Kitchen"), which is sponsored by Werther's. You can't go wrong with any of the caramel-drizzled baked goods here! However, on a hot day, you might want to opt for the ice cream served at
L'Artisan des Glaces instead. I'm a fan of the Ice Cream Martini...ooh la la!
Remy once said, "
If you are what you eat, then I only want to eat the good stuff." I think you and I would agree, Shannan! If you have any more questions, please feel free to write back.
