Hi again! Was able to snag ADR for Mickeys Backyard BBQ! Only problem is that its on our last night which will be our only day at MK. Kids are 5 and 2, so much to see! Will a 630 ADR will take up too much of our time? Also want to see electrical parade! TY

    Jessica,

I think you are in a good news/bad news situation. The good news is that Mickey's Backyard BBQ is a wonderfully fun meal for younger kids. The food is good, and very kid-friendly.

The "bad news" is that to really get the full value of this dinner show, you don't really want to dine and dash. It is not like a typical restaurant, with people arriving at all times, dining, then leaving. It is a show, where the entire restaurant is 'seated' at once. Then the show starts, beginning with the live band, and soon after the characters.

The show runs for about an hour and a half. So assuming you leave around 8, now you have to contend with the rather long lines to get a boat to the Magic Kingdom. Recall that everyone else in you seating at the BBQ is probably doing the same, and now we are talking about a significant wait.

Without knowing what day you're there, and therefore what show times are for the evening parade and fireworks, I would suggest that any show before 9 pm is out of the question. Even that one might be a bit of a stretch. So what should you do? When our kids got tired of dancing with the characters, we snuck out to beat the rush to the boats. We still had to wait, due to Hoop Dee Doo Review crowds, but we were back at the Magic kingdom in about 50 minutes.

Personally, while I liked the meal, I would suggest that more Magic Kingdom time would be better for your family.

Have a magical (and delicious) vacation!
