Any advice on when to book your half marathon within the trip? I am thinking about arriving Thursday and hoping the crowds disperse by Monday or book for end of trip? I'm thinking about all the walking and all the running fun and the effect on my feet!

    Hi Krystal!

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. This is tricky for me to answer because it's definitely one of those "do as I say, not as I do" type situations!

I think ultimately there are a lot of benefits to planning your runDisney race early in your trip. If you have any pre-race jitters or nerves you complete your run early and can relax the rest of your time! When it comes to Walt Disney World Resort, one of my favorite things to do is eat, which can be tricky before a run because a lot of sweet treats and heavy food before a race is not the best of ideas. If your race is early in your trip you've already worked your rear off and deserve to indulge. You'll also have fresh feet for the race which is certainly a plus. With the opening of the new Pandora- The World of Avatar and the new nighttime spectacular Happily Ever After, you are also going to have some late nights during your trip, which I think is better to do when you don't have to wake up at 3:00 AM.

With all that being said, I almost always come home the day of or day after the race. This is mostly because of my work schedule and it's easier for me to take off later in the work week than earlier, so most of my runDisney runcations are long weekends.

Happy planning and please come back and let me know if you need anymore tips or advice for your upcoming runcation!

I've been to Disney more times than I can count, but I found an even greater passion for all things Disney after discovering runDisney events. There is no better motivation to train for a race than a trip to the most magical place on earth! Learn More About Lindsey
