Hi, going to take advantage of the military discount memorial day weekend. Any opinions, info, advice on Shades of Green? Will be first time for me and kids, hubby hasn't been to WDW in 20 yrs.

Hi, Emily!  My sister and her husband stayed at Shades of Green after one of his Iraqi tours; and my good friend and her family stayed there while her husband was on R and R during his deployment.  This beautifully landscaped property is truly like getting away from it all.  Nestled between golf courses, the resort is lush and green, and very tranquil.

You'll find heated pools, a children's play area, video game arcade, restaurants - all the amenities you can think of that you'd like to have on vacation!  The rooms at Shades of Green are generously sized and quite comfortable!  You'll have a coffee maker, a refrigerator, and either a balcony or patio.  Room service is available, and you'll have transportation to all of the Walt Disney World theme parks.

Food at the Garden Galley restaurant was very good and reasonably priced.  You can have breakfast there from 0700 until 1100 and then they are open again for dinner from 1700 until 2200.  There is also a sports bar open until 2400.

You can find photos of the resort and amenities at www.shadesofgreen.org .

Having never been to this resort before my sister and brother-in-law went, I was truly surprised at how absolutely lovely it is.  I really enjoyed the time we spent there.  I hope you enjoy your time there every bit as much as we did.

And thank you and your family for the dedication you've all shown by serving our country!
