ChEARs Alan,
Welcome to the table at the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I love that you are pre-planning your meals for your visit. Since we are a bunch of planners, you are in good company!
My husband is a grazer, and he tends to avoid large meals when we are in the Parks, so there have been plenty of times that he’s looked to the
kids menu for a smaller-sized meal. Thankfully, Walt Disney World Resort is happy to have anyone order off of the kids menu, regardless of age! (Make sure to check with your Server at your dining location - there could be an exception). If you are planning on using the
Disney Dining Plan, you will still be charged the adult price (since you are over the age of 10!), but are free to pick from whichever menu you desire. You also can discuss with your server the possibility of smaller portions off of the adult menu. The fantastic Disney Chefs are very accommodating of
special dietary needs.
While I love the kids dining options across the Resort, know that there are
quite a few adult choices that lean to the lighter side of things. We routinely order fish dishes at dinner, because they are
healthy and light. I love the Grilled Salmon at
Columbia Harbour House, and one of my favorite breakfasts is at
Sanaa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. The Enriching Grains and Fruit (with a coconut-milk yogurt!) is delicious, and not heavy at all.
Alan, one of my fellow panelists recently answered a question about
healthy dining options, and her suggestions are excellent! I second her
Satu’li Canteen recommendations, we make it a point to eat there every time we visit. Their bowls are delicious and perfectly proportioned.
If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to come back. I wish you an appetizing and magical vacation!
