Hello. We (2 adults and 3 children ages 4, 6, and 9) are first time visitors and staying at Port Orleans Riverside from 07/11 - 07/18, nonhopper passes to 4 parks, have dinner reservations with dining plan. Any suggestions on packing/ planning?

Hi, Summer!  Keep in mind that it will be hot and humid during your visit to Walt Disney World, and each afternoon will likely be interrupted by a period of rain.  You may want to bring sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, and rain ponchos for everyone in your family, so you are prepared for any thing the Florida weather might hit you with!

Pretty much anything you might forget is going to be available at the shop at your resort, but I always like to bring some band-aids, Neosporin, Purell, and some over the counter remedies for colds, tummy aches, and headaches.  My kids are notorious for coming down with a terrible summer cold right as we are standing in line for Big Thunder Mountain, so I like to have stuff handy.

Even with non-hopper passes, you can leave the park you are in and go back to your resort if you want an afternoon break.  You can return later in the day for fireworks or to ride a few more rides, but having a break in the middle of the day for the kids to swim or nap can be a good idea, especially in the heat.

If you are trying to stick to a minimal souvenir budget, my kids love the pressed pennies.  You can bring a couple of rolls of quarters and another couple of rolls of pennies, and let the kids make these great souvenirs.  My kids also like pin trading with the Cast Members, so if your kids have any pins, they can bring them and trade them for some extra fun!

    Have a terrific vacation!
