Now that you can make ADRs online, do you think it will be faster to do it online or by calling? What would you do?

This is a great question -- one that the Moms Panelists have been discussing ourselves. It's a tough call right now which method of making dining reservations will be faster. It's hard to judge right now as the online system is brand new, and I'm guessing that we'll see it tweaked over the coming months. I'm curious to see how it all unfolds. Some things to think about:

    - The online dining reservation system is a boon for guests who have limited long-distance calling capabilities and International guests for whom time zone differences are problematic.

    - I spent about an hour playing around with the reservations system yesterday, making some real ADRs for a trip in a few weeks and some test ADRs (which I later canceled) for various dates over the summer. For me, a very experienced Disney Dining phone caller, I found making the reservations online to be a bit slower than it normally takes me to make them over the phone. I personally didn't love that I had to keep going to the individual restaurant pages to make each reservation. For a 10-day trip filled with table service reservations, that could be A LOT of clicking. Online reservations might be better for guests with only a few table service needs.

    - In the past, I have been on hold with the Disney Dining phone line for quite some time before I got through to a reservationist. This won't be a factor online. Also, I wonder if there will be cuts in the number of Disney Dining phone operators :-(

    - People have varying Internet speeds. A slow connection will make for a slow reservation process.

    - Like that the online system allows you to look for a range of dates and times to search for a table. Similarly, I like that the online system suggests alternatives if your first choice is not available.

Honestly, I think that I'll end up using a combination of phone/online myself. I'll probably do my first round of ressies on the phone, and then fill in later online.
