Welcome back to planDisney, Julie! Let’s dive right in and get you set for a splash-tastic check-in day at the water parks this summer.
Disney Resort hotel guests, including Disney Vacation Club (DVC) Members, can enjoy
complimentary admission to a Disney water park on their check-in day. This benefit will show up under “Future Plans” in the My Disney Experience app, and you can visit either
Disney’s Blizzard Beach or
Typhoon Lagoon, depending on which is open during your trip.
When it comes to capacity, while it’s not common, Disney water parks can reach their limit, especially during peak summer months or holidays. If that happens, new guests may be asked to wait to enter until space opens up. To make the most of your day, I recommend arriving in the morning if your travel schedule allows. It gives you more time to float down the lazy river and snag your favorite lounge spot before things get busy.
Right now, Blizzard Beach is open through April 30. Starting May 1, Typhoon Lagoon is expected to reopen, and both parks will operate through September 7 (except for a short closure of Blizzard Beach for a couple of weeks in May). With both parks open, crowds will likely spread out a bit more, which is great news for flexible planning. Typical hours are 10 AM to 6 PM, though these can vary, so it’s always a good idea to check the My Disney Experience app closer to your arrival date.
If both water parks were to reach capacity or close due to weather (and we know those summer storms love to pop up), check with the front desk at your Disney Resort hotel. While alternate options aren’t guaranteed, Cast Members will do their best to assist.
If you’re heading straight to the slides and wave pools before your room is ready, you can drop your luggage off with Bell Services and bring a small day bag with the essentials like swimsuits, sunscreen, and maybe a waterproof phone pouch. The best part is that Disney Resort hotel guests receive complimentary towel rentals. Just show your MagicBand, Key to the World card, or Disney MagicMobile pass at rental locations like Singapore Sal’s or High ’N Dry Rentals. There are plenty of complimentary lounge chairs, but if you’d like to reserve a shaded area or premium space, you can
book umbrella rentals or reserved seating in advance.
Getting to the water parks is part of the adventure, too. If you’re headed to Typhoon Lagoon, take a bus from your resort to Disney Springs, then transfer to a Typhoon Lagoon bus. These typically begin running about 45 minutes before the park opens and continue until about an hour after closing. For Blizzard Beach, guests staying at the All-Star Resorts or Coronado Springs have direct service. From other resorts, just head to Animal Kingdom Park and transfer to a Blizzard Beach bus. These usually start running about 30 minutes before the park opens.
Julie, I hope you have the best time. Here’s to sunshine, lazy rivers, and maybe even a visit from the Ice Gator himself. If more questions pop up while you’re packing those flip-flops, you know where to find me!
With magic,
Eean
