My family has been traveling to The Most Magical Place on Earth since my three boys were wee little Mouseketeers. I did most of the planning back then, and honestly, I still do. Recently, my youngest son asked if he could assist me, so when he turned 13 last year, I helped him set up his own
My Disney Experience account, which is the
minimum age to create a Disney account. Then, I invited him to connect with me in
Family & Friends using his Disney account email. While he enjoys having his own account, it's not necessary, and in fact, my older boys do not have one, so I manage all the plans for them. There is a
Family & Friends FAQ page that provides additional information.
If your children are under 13 (or if they don't want an account yet), they will not need to accept your Family & Friends invitation. You will simply create a profile for them by entering their names and ages. Then you'll still be able to link tickets and reservations under their profile.
However, it might be fun for them to choose their own Disney Character avatar to go with their profile. To do this, click on "My Family & Friends" from the My Disney Experience drop-down menu in the top right corner of the Walt Disney World Resort homepage. You should see your family members listed there. You'll see a blue hyperlink that says "update." Click that hyperlink to update the profile pictures. You can click on the blue link underneath the current profile picture that says "Change Character" to choose from some familiar Disney friends!
