Hiya, Jack!
I'm so glad you've found your way to planDisney –– thanks for dropping by with your question today. In addition to getting to experience the magic of Disney vacations year after year, there are so many extra ways for Disney Vacation Club Members to sprinkle a little extra pixie dust on each and every visit, courtesy of our
Membership Extras. From dining and shopping discounts, to Member-exclusive events and spaces, and even discounted admission (subject to availability), there are tons of exciting options for eligible DVC Members. How cool that you're considering sharing the gift of Membership with your child –– let me share a few details about how this process works to help you decide if adding another Member to your Membership is right for you.
When it comes to adding a Member to your Disney Vacation Club Membership, you have two options –– you can choose to add an
Associate Member or you can add them as an Additional Purchaser. While an Associate Member can be added right on the Disney Vacation Club website, these individuals are only authorized to make DVC reservations using Home Resort Vacation Points –– they don't have their own Membership number and won't have access to any Member Benefits. In order to add an Associate Member, hover over the "My DVC" tab and select "My Profile" from the drop-down menu. From there, click on "Member Information" and follow the onscreen prompts to add an Associate.
If you'd like to add someone to your Membership so they can enjoy all your Disney Vacation Club benefits, you must
add them as an Additional Purchaser on your Membership. To do this, you'll need to work with an attorney or title company to create a new deed that transfers your ownership interest from the way it's currently titled to a new title with the additional Members. While DVC doesn't charge any type of fee for this modification, you will incur the cost of having the new deed drawn up, as well as any filing fees required to record your new deed. Once the new deed has been recorded, you'll need to email a copy of the documentation to Member Administration at members@disneyvacationclub.com, so they can review the information and update your account.
One thing to keep in mind, however, is that when you add an Additional Purchaser, you're giving them full access to your DVC Membership. Because your DVC Membership is a tangible real estate interest, you'll also be tying them financially to that interest –– meaning that they will also be taking on any fiscal responsibilities of Membership, including Annual Dues and other fees. Because of this, I recommend reaching out to
Member Services, as well as a legal representative, to help you fully understand the steps included in this process and any legal ramifications of your decision.
Thanks so much for visiting planDisney, Jack. I hope this helped to answer your question, but if you need additional information or think of new questions about your Disney Vacation Club Membership, please don't hesitate to stop by again –– we're always here to help!
Have a Magical Day,
Amy
