Hi there, Edith! I am so glad you found planDisney to ask your question about park hopping. With the new theme park reservation system, I know it is a little unclear how park hopping is handled.
It sounds like you have already made a park reservation for January 16. This will be the park you wish to START your day at. As you have fun all morning at Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or Disney’s Animal Kingdom, you will be using your
MyDisneyExperience mobile app to enjoy your day.
As the clock approaches 2:00 PM, you will be granted park hopping access, depending on availability. To check which theme parks are allowing park hopping, you will go back into the MyDisneyExperience app. From the main page, select the three lines in the lower right corner, then select “Park Hours & Info” in the left column. Here, you can see each theme park listed with their hours for the day, early entry, and park hopper availability.
We haven’t ever encountered a park NOT being available for park hopping. Our family found that one of the best hops is from EPCOT to Disney’s Hollywood Studios on the
Disney Skyliner. We love that the Skyliner is like riding another attraction and the entire ride takes about 20 minutes, so you get a little break to rest your feet. One afternoon, we did this hop and found the queue for
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance to be surprisingly low (40 minutes posted wait time), and we jumped in. We only waited for 22 minutes!
I hope you have a wonderful visit to The Most Magical Place on Earth in less than a month. Thank you for trusting us with your vacation question.
Happy Traveling,
Tracy
