Bright Suns, Chad! I am so glad you searched the galaxy high and low to find planDisney to ask your Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge question.
When visiting Black Spire Outpost, you will be amazed at the sights and sounds of Batuu. Lots of travelers (like yourself) will make appointments to visit the
Droid Depot to build their personal Astromech Unit.
Since this experience does require an appointment, you will need to make a separate reservation for your guest to build their own droid. When you search on the
Droid Depot website, you can put in a date range to find a suitable time, which can hopefully coincide with your own building time.
Once you have your R-Unit or BB-Unit, you can carry them around Galaxy’s Edge and hear them interact with some of the “landscape” around Batuu. Be sure to visit the junk area behind the blue & green milk stand, that is where my own R2-QT was the most vocal. Depending on the crowds, you might have trouble hearing your droid, but should feel the vibrations. It is also harder to hear them when they are in their carrying box.
When I made my droid, I took him back to planet Earth and to the front of Disney’s Hollywood Studios for a fun photo session with one of the PhotoPass photographers, which were then included on my
Memory Maker. He was so great! We took fun pictures together, and then our photographer even took some shots of R2-QT all by himself! It was kind of hilarious.
I hope you have an out-of-this-world visit to Black Spire Outpost.
Happy Traveling,
Tracy
