Can I add a Dining Plan to a room only reservation without canceling our existing reservation? We are traveling in 30 days and have already made all of our dining reservations based on having a dining plan. We also have our res linked to our family.

Hi, Roxanne! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thanks so much for stopping by with your Disney Dining Plan question. I love including one of the plans in our vacation because it makes meal time so easy! When we get hungry, we just stop by our favorite Quick Service dining location and grab a bite to eat. If my older kid wants to try the big steak dinner? Sure! When we figure out we have extra snack entitlements that need to be used, it's Dole Whip Floats for everyone! Since the cost of our meals is taken care of before we even start packing for the trip, I do not have to worry one bit about them during our magical adventures. We just scan our MagicBands and go!

A Walt Disney World Resort room-only reservation can be modified to a ticketless Disney Resort Hotel Package with included Disney Dining Plan. To do so without including tickets, you will need to call the Resort Hotel phone line and speak with a Cast Member about making the change to a package. If Disney Theme Park tickets are going to be included in the new package, then the change can possibly be done online. However, I find it is much easier to make this type of change by calling in and letting the wonderful Cast members work their magic.

Roxanne, one thing to consider when making this change is that you are likely to lose any Special Offer you are using on your room-only reservation. If you booked your room with maybe a percent-off type of Special Offer, then you will now have to pay full rate for the room. Be sure to do your "Mickey math" and see if adding a Disney Dining Plan will be worth losing out on that offer!

Thanks for stopping by to chat and please let us know if you have any other questions as you continue to plan your upcoming vacation!
