Ahoy, Betty!
Can you believe your sailing is less than a month away? It won't be long now before you're strolling the decks of the Disney Magic enjoying your cruise vacation. And I'm glad you cruised by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question because the beauty of a Disney Cruise is the variety of offerings for Guests of ALL ages!
Speaking from experience with my own children, I strongly suggest your son visit Edge (the youth club for 11-14 year olds) on the first evening of the cruise to meet some fellow cruisers his same age. The youth counselors will be there to help break the ice in this fun, interactive space. My daughter has enjoyed participating in Edge on our last few sailings and always has to be present for her two favorite activities-Gender Wars and the Scavenger Hunts! Getting to know the youth counselors and other cruisers from Edge is something she cherishes the most from our Disney Cruises, and she still connects with many of them via text and social media!
When your son is not participating in the activities offered in
Edge, I suggest he dives in to some of the recreation offered onboard. The Goofy Pool, the
AquaDunk and the Twist 'N' Spout Slide will be opened throughout the day for some splashtacular fun! My son was obsessed with the AquaDunk on our last Disney Magic sailing and probably took the plunge about 50 times! The Wide World of Sports Deck is another spot he may want to check out for pick-up games of basketball, dodgeball or soccer. There is also ping-pong and foosball located on Deck 10 and shuffleboard on Deck 4!
I hope I've given you some good ideas on what your son might like to do on your upcoming cruise. Also, don't forget there are first-run movies and endless ice cream and pizza!
