Hot dog, Hannah! Welcome to planDisney. It sure is swell that you're planning to visit Mickey and his pals in a few days!
I recently tried out the new
MagicBand+, and I'm a big fan of its unique features. As Disney describes it, "this innovation unlocks a new dimension of Disney storytelling." You'll love being able to interact with the
Disney Fab 50 Character Statues; be sure to download the
Play Disney Parks app so you can participate in the scavenger hunt. If you have Star Wars fans in your midst, you'll also want to use your bands to play Batuu Bounty Hunters (also in the app) while in Disney's Hollywood Studios!
The answer to your question depends on how you purchased your bands. If your MagicBands were ordered via My Disney Experience through your Walt Disney World Resort reservation, then, unfortunately, they are
non-transferable. MagicBands are assigned before shipping, and the names of each Guest are printed on the back of the MagicBand.
On the other hand, if they were bought through
shopDisney.com, you most likely will be able to transfer them. You shouldn't have an issue if the bands have not been used yet to scan into the parks or linked to your account. If you need any help, call the Internet Help Desk at (407) 939-4357. When the menu asks what you are calling about, say, "Speak to an agent."
The process of
linking your MagicBand+ differs from previous versions since it will need to be paired with your phone. If you manage anyone's account, including your children, you can also pair their bands to your mobile device. To start the process:
1. Tap the three stacked lines in your
My Disney Experience app's lower right-hand corner.
Scroll down until you see a "MagicBands & More" icon, and tap on that. You will need to select "Link Your MagicBand or Card" near the bottom of this page.
2. Select the "Open Scanner" button at the bottom of the screen, then touch the band on the back of your phone. You may need to tap your MagicBand+ in a few locations on your phone to get the right spot; I also took off my phone case to make it easier.
3. At this point, you can select who you want to assign to each MagicBand. You'll also be able to customize your light-up theme by tapping the "Change Color" button. And don't forget to turn on your Bluetooth connection!
The planDisney Panel hopes you have a magical vacation, Hannah!
