Hi there, Sherry! Thanks so much for reaching out to planDisney with your question!
Disney Gift Cards are such a helpful tool when planning a Walt Disney World vacation...they can be used for theme park tickets, resort stays, dining, merchandise, and so much more. I completely understand how easy it is to accidentally grab the wrong type of card, especially with so many options out there!
Unfortunately,
Disney+ Gift Cards are intended specifically for the Disney+ streaming service and can’t be used toward purchases at Walt Disney World Resort. I know that’s not the news you were hoping for, and I truly wish I had a more magical answer.
Since you have your original receipt, I recommend reaching out to the retailer where the card was purchased. While Disney+ gift cards are generally non-refundable through Disney, some stores have return policies that may allow an exchange or refund. It’s definitely worth a try! If the retailer is unable to help, you might also consider contacting the
Disney+ Help Center for further guidance, or possibly gifting or selling the card to someone who’s looking to subscribe.
You’re not alone. This mix-up happens more often than you’d think! In fact, a fellow planDisney alum, Prince, shared some helpful advice with another guest in the same situation.
I’ve linked his response in case you’d like to take a look.
I’m wishing you all the best as you get everything sorted out, and how exciting that you’re headed to Walt Disney World in September! That’s usually right in the heart of one of my favorite events, the
EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival, so hopefully there’s still plenty of delicious magic ahead!
Warmly,
Eean
