Hello there, Amy!
Welcome to planDisney. I'm so glad to hear you have a fall trip planned. It's one of my favorite times of year to visit
Walt Disney World Resort, so you're in for a real treat!
When it comes to booking a room and ticket vacation package, all guests will need to have the same package features, including ticket entitlements. If you were to call in to add additional guests, they'd receive the same number of ticketed days and ticket type, depending on whether you booked 1-park per day or
Park Hopper Option tickets.
I understand that a full day in the parks might be too much for the grandparent in question, so I contacted a Cast Member about alternate options. They let me know that even though they can't add someone to an existing package without tickets, you should be able to visit the Front Desk of your resort upon arrival and add the additional family member as a day guest, subject to room capacity. This would give them access to your resort room and amenities, without the same theme park access as the rest of your party. Since you'll be traveling a good distance, I'd recommend
calling (407) 934-7639 about your existing tickets prior to arrival to ensure your particular room can accommodate an additional adult. A friendly Cast Member will be able to review the specific details of your package and resort room.
I want to mention that even though your relative might not want to participate in some of the more
thrilling attractions around the parks, there is still plenty of magic to enjoy together.
Magic Kingdom Park is home to many attractions and entertainment options suitable for all ages and activity levels like
Happily Ever After, my personal favorite evening spectacular, and classics like
Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress or character experiences like
Enchanted Tales with Belle. My own family is hoping to visit with my grandmother in the near future, and though she won't be able to board
Space Mountain, she is excited to watch the
Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade and listen to the soothing sounds of
The Dapper Dans on Main Street, U.S.A., preferably with a Mickey Pretzel in hand.
Keep in mind, your tickets will allow you to enter and exit the park at will throughout the day, so you can always plan to spend just the morning together or meet up later in the evening when temperatures begin to cool. If you decide to modify your existing package to include your grandparent, we'd be happy to offer some additional suggestions and recommendations to help them enjoy each of the parks.
I hope this was helpful. From one Amy to another, I'm wishing you the most magical vacation!
Adventure is out there,
Amy
