About Me

I'm a Kentucky native who has lived in Florida since 1984. I'm a retired communications and community engagement executive. I spent the last decade of my career in the nonprofit sector, but I previously was a newspaper reporter and editor for almost 25 years. Informally, I've been answering questions about Disney for friends and acquaintances for years so I'm excited to be able to share what I've learned about Disney with others. We live about 90 minutes from the front gates of Walt Disney World, so it has been our escape for years: for a week with family from out of town, for a weekend with our daughter or alone, or just for an afternoon.

About My Family

My husband and I have been married for almost 40 years and often celebrate our anniversary with a trip to Walt Disney World. We became Florida Resident Passholders for the first time when our older daughter was 4 and have been regular passholders for 25+ years since. We can trace both our daughters' childhoods with pictures from Walt Disney World, and we still enjoy Disney vacations together as often as we can. Both our daughters became adventurous foodies, a love they developed over the years at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival and at all the varied cuisines of the Disney restaurants.

About My Disney Experience

I had only visited the Disney parks three or four times before we became parents, but it was and is an integral part of our family experience. We have stayed in every Walt Disney World resort, eaten in almost every restaurant, participated in almost every attraction and many special experiences. We've also taken several Disney cruises, visited Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, stayed at the Disney Vero Beach Resort and I've run the runDisney Princess Half Marathon. A friend once asked us if they greet us by name when we go through the gates. Almost. Disney is the place we can relax, be together, try new things and have conversations, regardless of what park we're visiting or where we're staying. And that's usually our best piece of advice to friends who ask for tips: figure out what you want to do that maximizes your time to enjoy each other's company in the magic of Disney.
