¡Hola a todos! Bonjour! I’m Desiree. I am a mom of two princes (and a dog princess) who love Disney just as much as I do! I was born and raised in Lima, Peru, but spent a few years in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as a kid, while my dad pursued his graduate studies. I most definitely hold the American culture close to my heart! I'm a middle school Language Arts and Humanities teacher at the International American School of Lima, where more than 40 countries are represented. I'm privileged to see individuals from so many different cultures come together every day to follow their passion for learning. When I'm not in the classroom, I'm usually helping people overcome the barrier that exists between those who don't happen to speak the same language but may have other greater things in common. I am a certified translator and interpreter for English, Spanish, and French. I love languages! As soon as I walk into Epcot, my family knows that I basically run off to go use my multi-language skills in the different pavilions, especially with folks from France, Mexico, and Canada! I'm overwhelmed every time by Disney’s multiculturalism and diversity!
About My Family
I'm the proud wife of a brave and selfless volunteer fireman. He’s known about my passion for Disney since we were sweethearts before college. Once he visited the parks with me, he instantly fell in love. His favorite rides are Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Splash Mountain!
I am a mom of two princes. My oldest is a 19-year-old prince, who is a charming university student. He also fell in love with Disney during his first trip when he was only two. He now loves roller coasters, especially Aerosmith’s Rock 'n' Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. My other prince is a 10-year-old energetic 5th grader, who also loves Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Splash Mountain, just like his dad. Looking at my children’s eyes sparkle every time we set foot in one of the theme parks is more than I could have ever wished for!
About My Disney Experience
I first visited the Walt Disney World Resort when I was three-years-old. My family and I had been living in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, as my dad completed his graduate studies, and on our way back to Peru, my parents decided to stop at the Walt Disney World Resort and get a feel of this fabulous theme park that had opened not that long ago. I have flashbacks about being in a magical world with Cinderella Castle in the background. Everything is a blur now, but one thing is for certain, the joy that filled our hearts and the memories that my family made during that well-earned vacation trip marked the culmination of one of my father’s greatest academic accomplishments, which surely led the way to a future filled with opportunities for all of us. Since that trip, my family, and extended family, now (three generations), regularly visit the Walt Disney World as a well-established tradition, which we hope will be honored by those who will come hereafter.
