Double, double toll and trouble it’s Halfway to Halloween, and the planDisney panelists are here to share their most chilling ideas for celebrating spooky season throughout the year at Walt Disney World Resort!
Tricks
Tricks, twists and turns await Guests on attractions throughout Walt Disney World theme parks. No need for the calendar to read October 31st to enjoy a frightful attraction, when there are 999 haunts at Haunted Mansion awaiting your arrival every day. But beware of Hitchhiking Ghosts who may decide to join you for the remainder of your vacation.
Other hauntingly and dare we say even, entertaining attractions, include The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™. Buckle up in your elevator-style lift and get prepared to be transported to a Halloween night in 1939! You will scream and cheer as your lift unexpectedly rises and drops you into the fifth dimension. No one knows what exact ride awaits you, well except perhaps the spirits that can’t wait for company!
Don’t forget to set sail through the haunted Dead Man’s Cove on Pirates of the Caribbean. Listen for the whispers of pirates who came before you on this attraction and remember … dead men tell no tales!
Treats
In the true spirit of each and every holiday season, don’t forget to treat yourself!
If Haunted Mansion made you scream with delight, Kathy K. says you'll definitely get chills when you visit the Memento Mori gift shop just outside the attraction queue. “Madame Leota's former abode is filled to the rafters with spooky souvenirs and ghastly gifts that will always remind you of your favorite ride.”
Sporting your favorite Disney character, who might just be a bit on the bad side, is something Diane W. supports year-round. She personally enjoys channeling her inner Disney Villain through Villain-themed apparel, jewelry, phone cases, mouse ears, and more which can all be found at shopDisney. Who is her favorite you might ask? While it’s none other than Ursula from The Little Mermaid! You poor unfortunate souls!
Shantel H., a self-proclaimed kid at heart, explains that Walt Disney World is the one place where she can truly embrace the spirit of Halloween all year!
“I don’t need the excuse of ‘it’s Halloween’ to dress up. You can find me coordinating outfits, or Disney-Bounding, to match my Lightsaber or rocking my Haunted Mansion themed crocs,” Shantel explains. “While my little princess can dress up and be the princess she feels that she is.”
This is also a great time to begin to put your best Halloween costume together! A Jedi robe might be the exact accessory your Jedi in training is looking to wear this October. A princess in your family? The complete ensemble awaits you at shopDisney.com! And the perfect complement to any costume? One word … ears!
Something Sweet
If you follow planDisney on Instagram (@planDisneypanel), then you know there is usually food involved, and it’s so easy to celebrate the spooky season with sweet snacks that are available all year-round!
Nothing says Halloween quite like a Witches Cauldron and maybe a sweet treat to go along with it according to Jackie H. She reminds Guests you can find these bone-thrilling treats year-round at Disney's Candy Cauldron located at Disney Springs.
“Delight your taste-buds with the quintessential Halloween treat, a candy apple,” recommends Jackie. “You can choose from a wide variety of flavor options and each one is beautifully or should I say spookily hand decorated. Eating a candy apple can be tricky, especially if you plan to share. Here's a tip, the Cast Members at the shop are more than happy to slice it up for you before you leave the store. That makes for no tricks and just treats while enjoying your sweet treat!”
Bob A. supports the Citrus Swirls from Sunshine Tree Terrace at Magic Kingdom Park as an honorary Halloween snack. In his words, “the frozen orange juice slushy and vanilla soft-serve ice cream do remind me of pumpkins and ghosts!”
planDisney tip: Celebrating Halfway to Halloween at home? Jonathan G. has the perfect solution. To celebrate the season of happy haunts all year long, I like to heat up the Mickey Mouse double flip waffle maker for some pumpkin-spiced Mickey-shaped waffles! But don't stop there! This is a celebration of the taste of Halloween! Top those warm waffles with a scoop (or two) of vanilla or pumpkin-spiced ice cream! Drizzle some caramel sauce over the top and add a healthy dose of whipped cream! A shake of not-so-spooky ghost or moon-shaped sprinkles will add a bit of color to that whipped cream topping! Happy haunting (or eating), inspired by the Walt Disney World Resort, any time of the year!
