Hiya Timm,
Welcome to planDisney! We are so excited that you are here and planning a visit to Walt Disney World Resort. It is such a magical time to visit Walt Disney World. The
50th Anniversary has sprinkled so much EARidescence throughout the Theme Parks that it is indeed a picture-perfect environment. I’m sure you will capture so many incredible memories this summer during your visit! Just a little pro-tip, if you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Collection Hotel, use those
extra park hours to get pictures with lower crowds. A coveted photo in front of Cinderella’s Castle and the other three
Beacons of Magic will be enviable when no one is walking in the background.
As you mentioned, Gimbals are allowed into the Theme Parks. However, after speaking to a Cast Member, your Zhiyun Smooth X Gimbal may not be permitted into the Theme Parks due to the selfie stick. According to the Walt Disney World Resort property rules, selfie sticks and/or any tripod or monopod that extends over 6’ (or that cannot fit into a backpack) are not permitted in the Theme Parks even if not in use. Since space in your luggage is probably limited (due to all of the Mickey Ears, matching t-shirts, and comfy shoes you need to pack), I would suggest erring on the side of caution and not bringing it with you. As you work your way through your packing list, I always recommend double-checking the
property rules to ensure that whatever you pack is allowed into the Theme Parks, just in case.
If you decide not to pack a Gimbal, you can still capture your memories using
Disney’s PhotoPass Service! There are so many incredible photo opportunities throughout the Theme Parks, and they make fantastic keepsakes of your time at Walt Disney World Resort. My new favorite PhotoPass opportunities are the
Super Zoom Magic Shots. They are incredible, and I love sharing them with all of my friends and family who couldn’t make the trip. They are also available at all four Theme Parks now!! Another awesome PhotoPass opportunity is the Cinderella Castle Mural of Memories. You and your family can become a part of the 50th Anniversary Celebration by adding your Disney PhotoPass photo to Cinderella's Castle to remain for years to come.
I hope I was able to answer your question, Timm. If there is anything else we can help you with, please come back and see us!
Happy Planning,
Ashley F.
